The FFCS (Finnish Forest Certification System) certification demonstrates reliably how the Finnish certified forests are managed and used.
The Finnish Forest Certification System also conforms to the international requirements for forest certification and it can be linked to international forest certification systems.
The FFCS System includes all the essential components for forest certification: requirements for forest management and use and chain of custody verification as well as the qualification criteria for external auditing.

The core element of the Finnish Forest Certification System is the standard proposal for sustainable management of forest drafted in 1997 in a transparent participatory process. There were in all 29 stakeholders representing economical, social and ecological interests taking part in the process. In year 2002-2003 the forest certification standards were revised based on scientific information and the experience gained from practise.
